Questions and Answers
What is Biomac?
Australian Made, Biomac soil conditioning fertiliser granules have a high organic matter content and contain a balanced combination of essential nutrients and trace elements. This makes Biomac a cost-effective tool to improve soil health and promote strong healthy growth in all types of plants as well being kind to the environment.
What is Biomac made from?
Blended manures and decomposed plant material. Typically Biomac consists of 60% organic matter, 10 % nutrients such as NPK with the balance made up of trace elements and natural substances.
Does it smell much?
Biomac is formulated to produce low odour, especially when packaged and stored. Like most organic based fertilisers odour can increase when the product gets wet. Customers have reported that Biomac produces fewer odours than other leading brands of organic fertiliser.
What about Dust?
Biomac has been specially formulated to reduce dust. The new Biomac formulation has very little dust compared with other leading brands.
Why should I use Biomac?
Biomac provides a dual action benefit to your soil. It acts as a soil conditioner by providing nurturing organic matter and also acts as a fertiliser by providing a balanced blend of essential plant nutrients, resulting in healthy thriving plants and lawns.
Are all of the nutrients in Biomac immediately available to my plants?
No. One of the benefits of Biomac is that the nutrients supplied are slower releasing than with conventional mineral or synthetic fertilisers. This results from the need for soil microbes to act on Biomac to commence the release of nutrients to the soil. This means that nutrients are not quickly leached from the root zone of plants and are available for longer period throughout the growing season.
There are a lot of fertilisers on the market. Is Biomac the right choice for me.
Fertilisers generally come in two forms, synthetically manufactured mineral fertilisers and naturally based organic based fertilisers such as manures. Mineral fertilisers only provide nutrients such as N: P:K and various trace elements to the soil.
Biomac is an organic based fertiliser which not only provides nutrients such as N:P:K and various trace elements but also provides substantial amounts of organic matter to the soil. Organic matter helps build soil structure and the moisture holding capacity of the soil.
Another important benefit of Biomac is the slow release of the nutrients. This prevents nutrients being leached away easily following rainfall or irrigation. It also means that nutrients are available to your plants throughout the season.
Why change to Biomac
Biomac is very similar in analysis to many popular soil conditioner/fertilisers on the market. The key reasons people have chosen BIomac over alternatives, is the much reduced odour and dust. Biomac’s smaller prill or granule size also means that it is not easily visible after application, especially on lawns. Proudly, Biomac is a value for money Australian made and owned product.
Is Biomac organic?
Organic fertilisers refer to fertilisers which are made from animal or plant by- products such as manures. Biomac is an organic based soil conditioner manufactured from a range of organic materials including manures and pasteurised biosolids. Can Biomac be used on organic certified crops or farms?
No, Biomac is not Organically certified
How much do I need to use?
We always recommend a full soil analysis to work out the correct rates required, however as a guide we recommend 800kg – 1000kg /ha or 80gm – 100gm per square metre. As a guide, one standard ½ cup measure = approx 100gms.
How do you apply Biomac?
Biomac’s fine particle size ensures the product is able to be quickly incorporated into the soil profile, and in the case of turf applications is not “mown off”. It can be applied by conventional spreaders. Many users are happy to apply to garden beds etc by hand however when larger areas such as lawns need to be treated, an inexpensive hand operated spinner spreader can be used.
What precautions should I take when handling and spreading Biomac?
We recommend wearing gloves when handling this product. Please read Health and Safety information on the label.
What size bag does it come in?
20 kg and 1000 kg Bulker Bags
